Embedded Systems Engineer

Job Description

Defense Electronics Systems Expert: Trainer/Technician

Job Description
The successful candidate will join a diverse team of engineers and military subject matter experts as a principal trainer/electronics field technician on one or more projects involving ground-based RF and optical sensor systems. In this role you must be:

• Capable of performing basic electronics lay outs, builds, tests, troubleshooting, repairs and modification of developmental and production electronic equipment and systems.
• Responsible for training military operators, commercial end users, and field technicians on all aspects of operating ground-based RF and optical sensor equipment.
• Familiar with and capable of development of tactically sound operational employment plans.
• Able to support fielding and installation of military sensor equipment in real world applications. This requires deployment overseas to semi-austere environments for short periods of time.

Responsibilities
In addition to the aforementioned electronic tasks, the successful candidate is responsible for the development of training and logistics plans, instruction manuals, and system performance reports. He/she must provide subject matter expertise to a team of software and system engineers in order to optimize sensor system performance. The ideal candidate must have real world experience operating and maintaining electronic defense systems involved in stand-off threat screening of human subjects.

Required Skills
At least 4 years of military experience in a technical, electronics-focused or combat-arms related field. Working knowledge of electronic sensor system function and operation. Experience/familiarity with military force protection, checkpoint operations, and screening techniques is a plus. Must have experience in teaching, training, and instructing large groups. Senior Signal Processing Engineer

Job Description
SET Corporation is actively seeking qualified candidates in the Research and Development of Signal Processing software for detecting, tracking, and classifying objects of interest. This work involves hands-on design, development, and testing of high-level software programs for use in self contained, stand-alone fully integrated systems, as well as development of low level, real-time embedded code that processes incoming signals from multiple sensor technologies. The position is responsible for supporting data analysis, software/hardware integration, optimizing software for implementation in the field, and modifying algorithms and/or software code to collect, analyze and exploit data.

The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to concept development and code execution. Must be a team player who can work from a high level “wish list” to take a concept and run with it, understand and implement algorithms, and develop software to collect, analyze and exploit data. The candidate will construct software simulations from verbal instructions; work with algorithm developers to take “white board” concepts and develop them into software prototypes, and modify algorithms and/or software as necessary when implementation problems are encountered.

Required Skills
The preferred candidate will possess an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline and 3+ years experience developing software for data analysis, visualization and/or signal processing applications.

RF Surveillance Systems Scientist

Job Description
The successful candidate will join an outstanding sensor and signal processing R&D group as a principal investigator on one or more projects involving applications of RADAR, signals intelligence (SIGINT) and/or communications systems. Develop novel concepts, design algorithms, design and rapidly prototype systems in the field of radio frequency (RF) surveillance systems. Job Description
The Information Assurance (IA) Architect will support government customers in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community to securely develop and deploy various strategic capabilities for cloud computing and virtualization. Computer Vision Software Engineer

Job Description
SET Corporation is actively seeking qualified candidates in the development and implementation of video processing algorithms for interpreting video from unmanned air vehicles. This work will include hands-on design, development, experimentation, and testing of real-time exploitation algorithms with UAVs in the laboratory and in flight. Algorithms for human and object detection, tracking, classification, and geolocation will be integrated with SET’s Realtime Airborne Video Environment (RAVE). User interface design/development, software optimization, and real-time systems development will be pursued in a team-oriented environment.

Sensor Processing Engineer

Job Description
The Sensor Processing Engineer will develop real-time sensor processing systems for robotics applications, ranging from proof of concept demonstrations to efficient, reliable implementations. The successful candidate will work in small interdisciplinary teams to select hardware components and design and implement software to achieve real-time performance on prototype systems. Responsibilities include integrating into multi-threaded, multi-process, multi-processor environments (windows, linux, etc.) with cross-platform compatibility and portability. The sensor processing engineer will develop real-time software to process sensor data for closed loop real-time intelligent interactive and autonomous system applications. Examples include detecting and tracking moving objects over extended tracks. The sensor processing engineer should enjoy writing code close to the hardware for unmanned systems, from ground-based sensors to UAVs.

Required Skills
The ideal candidate will have an MS and 2 years or a BS and 5 years of experience developing real-time software for government or commercial software systems. Candidate must have experience developing C/C++ in MS Windows or Unix/Linux software development environments (such as visualC++ or gcc/g++/gdb/make) and tools (such as CVS, subversion or other CM system; bugzilla, roundup or other bug/issue tracking).
